Galyn "Doc" Hammond

Galyn is a self-taught photographer. He has been a member of the Photographic Society of America for over 40 years. He is a Fellow of the Photographic Society of America and has been awarded an EPSA, and Excellence honor. He has won Best of Show many times for his photography at the Monterey County Fair, Salinas County Fair, California State Fair and the Seaside Jazz Art Competition. He has had one-man shows at the Pacific Grove Art Center, the Alvarado Gallery in Monterey, the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Hall Gallery at the Carmel Foundation. His color prints have been accepted in juried shows at the Monterey Museum of Art, The Steinbeck Center in Salinas, the Carl Cherry Center for Art in Carmel and the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel. Color prints have also been accepted in archival collections of the City of Monterey and the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel. His photographs have been published in many books, magazines and calendars, here and abroad. He is a multi-faceted photographer whose primary interest has been Travel Photography. In 1977 the Photographic Society of America rated him number one in the world for Photo-Travel Slides.
